"What I Needed" (2022)
The reference photos for this collection were chosen over the past six years as Ben navigated the final years of his 20s. During this time, he researched various art styles and found significant inspiration in book illustrations and movie concept art. Ben created some pieces he enjoyed and many he didn't, but he believes any type of creation is a step forward.
Common themes in Ben's artworks include faded skies, wide-open spaces, grounded tones, and symbols of freedom, air, delicate silence, and intricate beauty. Art can be seen as a separate reality filled with what we need to navigate life, and these themes were what Ben needed in the second half of his 20s.
Ben hopes his artworks provide the viewer with a sense of calm and tranquility, just as they do for him.
